Tilburg Summer 2007: Cosmic appearance

Macro photography refers to close-up photography; the classical definition that the image projected on the "film plane" (i.e film or a digital sensor) is close to the same size as the subject. Many 35mm macro lenses are 1:1. My new Tamron macro lens is 1:1. Limited depth of field is an important consideration in macro photography. This makes it essential to focus critically on the most important part of the subject, as elements that are even a millimetre closer or farther from the focal plane might be noticeably blurry. I used F 32 to get the maximum depth of field possible with my Tamron lens, which is a remarkable small F-setting (most macro lenses have the possibility of a maximum depth of field of F 11, F 16 or F 22).
