Op 24 augustus 2006 maakte ik melding van een klapekster of grauwe klauwier in Best, vergezeld van foto's. Vogelexpert Nico de Haan gaf aan dat deze vogel een ontsnapte tropische vogel is, namelijk de 'White-crested Laughingtrush', Garrulax leucolophus, en dus niet een klapekster of grauwe klauwier. De White-crested Laughingtrush draagt wel hetzelfde verenpak als een grauwe klauwier, maar heeft een hoog opstaande kuif en komt voor in Azië, voornamelijk in Thailand en Indonesië. De zang van de vogel is spottend / lachend. De snavel van de vogel op de foto's is ongewoon vergroeid. Jammer dat de vogel het niet heeft overleefd en jammer dat de vogel in gevangenschap heeft geleefd, in plaats van in zijn eigen natuurlijke leefomgeving.

On August 24th 2006 I made some comments of an unknown bird in Best - The Netherlands -, accompanied with photographs. Birdexpert Nico de Haan told me, that this unknown bird is an escaped tropical bird, a 'White-crested Laughingtrush', Garrulax leucolophus. The bird has a tuft or crest, which explains why the bird is called white-crested. His song is like laughing. The beak of the bird in the photographs is uncommonly crooked. The natural habitat of the bird is Asia, mostly common in Thailand and Indonesia.
Unfortunately, the bird didn't survive and also unfortunately, that this bird lived his life in a cage instead of in his natural habitat.
