October 30 - December 16: photo exposition 'Colourful and Many-sided' at the Dantebuilding at the University of Tilburg. Two of my photographs in the exposition!

Het eerste fotowerk gecombineerd met tekst, geeft een contrast met een retorisch commentaar. Het is aan de kijker om zelf te ontdekken hoe ik dit bedoeld heb.
De foto's van het roodborstje zijn gemaakt vlak bij mijn slaapkamerraam. Het roodborstje poseerde voor mij als een waar fotomodel, zonder zich bedreigd te voelen. Elke dag word ik wakker met de mooie ochtendzang van het vogeltje.

On top, the combination of words and images gives a contrast with a retoric comment. The enclosed meaning is a task for the viewer to find out.
The photographs of the robin, 'Erithacus Rebucula', are taken close to my bedroomwindow. Like a model, the robin poses for me, without feeling threathened. Every day I wake up with the beautiful morningsong of the robin.

Mijn vorige post met foto's was een beetje onrustmakend. Het raamslachtoffertje, de koperwiek, lag naast de ruiten van het fietsenhok bij mijn appartementencomplex. Ik wilde het vogeltje toch fotograferen, om:
1. de koperwiek in ere te houden
2. de koperwiek zo degelijk en mooi mogelijk in beeld te brengen ter herinnering
3. mensen aan het denken te zetten over de consequenties van de huidige bebouwing

Daarbij wijs ik u op de mogelijkheid om ruiten, die in de vliegroute van vogels geplaatst zijn, te merken met vogelstickers. Deze stickers zijn verkrijgbaar bij de vogelbescherming (ook via de website). Witte stickers zijn nuttig als voornamelijk struiken weerspiegeld worden in een raam. Zwarte stickers zijn nuttig bij weerspiegeling van wolken en blauwe lucht.
Architectuur met veel glas en vooral de glazen tunnels veroorzaken jaarlijks vele vogelslachtoffers.

My last post of photographs was a little disturbing. I found the windowvictim 'red wing' next to the windows of the cycle shed of my apartmentcomplex. I wanted to portray the bird to:
1. do honor to the red wing
2. create a decent but beautiful picture for remembrance
3. stimulate people to think about the consequences of the present architecture

People should mark windows, which are in the flying route of birds. You can buy birdstickers at your local or national birdprotection foundation. White stickers are usefull when the window reflects bushes. Black stickers are usefull when the window reflects clouds and a blue sky.
Every year, modern architecture with a lot of glass or glass tunnels cause a lot of birdvictims.

Spreeuwen op de kerktoren op het Korvelplein. Je hoort ze flink 'kwebbelen' met elkaar, een onmiskenbaar geluid.

'Sturnus vulgaris', starling. These starlings use the churchtower to rest and to 'chat' with one another. The sound of their 'chatting' is unmistakable.

Roodborstje. Het was druk doende in de naaldboom. Vanwege het donkerte in de boom, zijn de foto's niet optimaal van kwaliteit.

'Erithacus rubecula' , Robin. This Robin was busy in the pinetree. The pictures are not optimal quality, because of the darkness within the tree.

Alle kauwtjes verzamelen! In grote groepen komen ze aan het eind van de dag naar het Korvelplein. Je hoort ze dan al van verre roepen en strijken neer in de grote boom bij het kerkhof.

Corvus Monedula, 'western jackdaw'. The western jackdaws cluster together when the day is almost over and you can hear them coming from far away. They come to Korvelplein, a neighbourhood in Tilburg, to take place in a tree near the graveyard.
